As we approach the end of our 26th season and look ahead to the summer, we present two Clarion 'cribmates' from the graduating class of 2012.
Lara Elena Donnelly is the author of glam spy thriller, Amberlough and a graduate of the Clarion and Alpha writing workshops.Her short fiction and poetry have appeared in venues including Strange Horizons, Escape Pod, Nightmare, and Mythic Delirium. A veteran of small town Ohio and the Derby City, Lara now lives in Manhattan. You can also find her online at @larazontally or laradonnelly.com.
Sam J. Miller's short stories have appeared in publications such as Asimov's, Clarkesworld, and Lightspeed, along with sixteen "year's best" story collections. But who's counting? His debut novel The Art of Starving, forthcoming from HarperTeen, was called “Funny, haunting, beautiful, relentless and powerful... a classic in the making” by Book Riot. His second novel, Blackfish City, will be published by Ecco Press in 2018. He graduated from the Clarion UCSD Science Fiction & Fantasy Workshop in 2012.
A finalist for multiple Nebula Awards along with the World Fantasy and Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Awards, he won the 2013 Shirley Jackson Award for his short story "57 Reasons for the Slate Quarry Suicides."
The New York Review of Science Fiction Reading Series provides performances from some of the best writers in science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, etc. The series usually takes place the first Tuesday of every month, but maintains flexibility in time and space, so be sure to stay in touch through the mailing list, the Web, and Facebook.
The Cafe has excellent food, a coffee bar, beer and wine. The Jenna freebie table will offer books and goodies, as will the raffle for any who donate.

Jim Freund is Producer and Executive Curator of The New York Review of Science Fiction Readings. He has been involved in producing radio programs of and about literary sf/f since 1967. His long-running live radio program, “Hour of the Wolf,” broadcasts and streams (most) every Wednesday night/Thursday morning from 1:00-3:00 AM. (New timeslot!) The Brooklyn Commons Cafe at 388 Atlantic Avenue is an open and collaborative movement building space, only minutes away from the Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Atlantic Avenue subway stops in downtown Brooklyn.
